Ganni's Death: A Piece of My Heart Died With Him

Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge.
When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge. There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together. There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable.
All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor. Those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by. The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind.
They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent. His eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster.
You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart.
Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together....

My Ganni Bear's gone and I miss him with every fiber of my being.

Before, I always wonder why people cry over pets, and now I know how it feels like. It sucks, man... It really does.

I consider myself a strong woman but Ganni's death really broke me down. I'm crying so bad ... the morning coffee doesn't taste the same. Hell, I can't seem to continue my everyday morning run.

I spoiled him to death. He sleeps beside me and when the fan gets super cold during the night, my armpit was his hiding place and I'd get to hug him and smell him. One time, when the power went out for hours, he was whimpering coz he doesn't like the heat so I went and manually fan him for hours and hours until the power went back. I can't stop the tears from falling. I miss him super bad.

Yesterday, when I learn about his death, it seems like I was in a crowded place and everybody's life seems to go on as usual but mine seem to stop. Man, the feeling is sometimes unbearable but I know that "This too shall pass."

I buried him where the Grotto of Lady of Lourdes will stand. His toys went with him, a rosary plus a piece of this heart necklace (I am wearing the other piece.):

A piece of my heart is with him

You will always be in my heart My Baby Boy... always...

  2. so sorry for your loss :(...I know what it feels like coz back in Highschool I had a puppy too and when he died, I vowed I won't take care of a dog again because losing him was just too much for me and my siblings :'(...a decade after we had a dog again that belonged to a family friend and since no one was really looking after him, I had to be the one..I developed attachment again...he was spoiled too by me...then years after, he died again :'(...saw my daughter experience the same thing..in the form of a fish naman...ayan, when it died she cried so bad, and we burried the fish din..everytime she recalls the fish, teary eyed sya..now she wants a puppy, sabi ko no more...:( life is just unfair sometimes...:( --kath

  3. sorry for the loss, ganyan din ako nung namatay yung huling aso namin, parang namatayan din kami ng pamilya at mahal sa buhay, just imagine for years na may sumasalubong sa aking aso na hindi mapakali at gumagalaw ang buntot, at nakikipaghabulan kami tuwing papaliguan, grabe....I know the feeling, parang pinag-sakluban ako ng langit at lupa nung namatay yung aso namin-si "Tiger",......Ilang araw mo talagang mamimiss yan.....:(

    Sis sorry for the loss.

  5. Now, I got the full story. I was shocked to see this post and had to do a bit of back track because of Ganni's death.

First off, I am so sorry for your loss. I understand the pain that you are going through most especially now that I am also a dog owner and my Sugar just gave birth to two pups, Spice and Herb.

Enough about that but I hope that you will feel better soon.

I have researched that Parvo is usually contracted from other dogs who have this disease. Ito yung reason na natatakot akong ilabas ang mga puppies.

I am pretty sure your little Gannicus is watching over you in dog heaven :)

  6. Condolences on your loss. Some people see mourning over a pet as silly but that's probably because they've never felt the love and devotion of a pet. Hugs dear!

  7. Sorry to hear about your loss. Indeed, even pets can make us cry. But yes, they're in a better place now. :)

  8. Ever since I was a kid my brother & I always had dogs. Right now we have 2 golden retrievers in the family. when we used to have 3. Last June 2011 Richie died & I cried myself for a week... this is coming from a guy LOL. Also, I didnt report for work for 5 days. Akala ko nga ma terminate ako but I didnt care at all. Im still with the company because after 5 days I went back to work. The key is make yourself busy & more importantly make sure that you have another dog to take care of para hindi mo masyado ma miss. Good thing we still have the 2 golden retrievers now. It will get better I promised just give it time.
