PLDT: How to Downgrade (FROM Telpad Plan (Php 1,699) to DSL Unli Plan (Php 1,299)

I regretted getting the Telpad Plan because I don't really use my Telpad. It's just there, gathering dust. If I could, I would drop my landline but it's bundle kasi.  Though I couldn't do anything about my Telpad Plan because it has a 3-year contract, I just waited  for the contract to end. And finally, finally it ended last September!

Note: Cancellation of the Telpad Plan doesn't make sense to me. I have to pay more for it to be cancelled so I just waited for the contract to be over. Like I said, I regretted it BIG TIME.

How I downgraded FROM Telpad Plan (Php 1,699)  to DSL Unli Plan (Php 1,299) :

1. I went to the PLDT office near me:

PLDT
M. L. Quezon Highway, Bgy. Pajo, Lapu-Lapu City
Telephone number: Don't bother. The phone number you'll find on the net isn't the correct number.

Note: You have to go to their office in person. You can't downgrade via phone or via their costumer service.

Tip: Go a week before your contract end. If you go a month before your contract ends, pababalikin ka, promise. If you go a week after your contract ended, they'll charge you for the next month na. So timing is the key here, my friends. To know when is the end of your contract, kindly call the costumer service for that. Dial 171 using your PLDT landline.

2. Fill up the Service Request Form

3. There's Php 500 fee for downgrading, but you will be charged on your bill for next month.

4. Receiving my bill after downgrade: Paid: Php 1,500+

5. Two months after the cancellation of my Telpad plan, here's my monthly regular bill:

It's weird because the Telpad Plan has 2MBPs only and the cost is Php 1,699 but when I downgraded, my speedtest result shot up to 19 MBPS. Mas cheaper but mas stronger ang speed. Nope, wala pang fiber sa area namin.

Well, PLDT has to get their services straight coz my third player na.

Here's the result of my speedtest:

  1. Yikes, expensive nga. I have Converge in Pasig and I pay 1,500 for 25mbps unlimited. In Cebu we use sky at 1,299 for 16mbps unlimited. No Cable or Landline since we only use internet anyway.

    1. Hi Ms. Mille! You can check your bill to know ano ang plan na gamit mo and you can also check www.speedtest.net to know how much mbps you have.

    3. Hi po. Call PLDT costumer service po for that. Hindi ko din alam ang exact date ng contract ko, so I just called them. They gave me info naman.

  3. Just called and talked to their supervisor. What made me angry was when we downgrade, we would have another 2-year contract. Natapos na nga ang contract and you'd pay for the downgrade fee, pero another lock-in? For the lower plan? Might as well check other providers

    1. Oo nga.I hope may option ako. PLDT kasi ang pinaka malakas sa amin. :( According to that person I was talking to, pwede daw ako mag upgrade anytime. I am hoping to upgrade to Fibr. I hope my other strong internet providers na sa aming area.

  4. Help po para nadin sa iba na kagaya ko.
What if kaka upgrade palang naming from dsl to fiber pero gusto mo ibalik sa dati as in fresh na fresh pa di pa siya tumatagal ng 1 week. I am asking kasi sunod sunod aberya ng fiber at di ko alam na ganun siya. So di po siya reliable sa work ko doing critical task.

Paanu po ba ung downgrade? ung ibabalik ung DSL ulit I know it will cost me po pero paanu po ba un computation?

    Kasi si site ung MSF(Monthly service fee) X3 so ung fbr plan 1899 X 3 = 5697

    1. Hi! I'm sorry but I don't have an answer for that, but knowing PLDT, they'd penalized you with hefty fee. I tried downgrading before my lock-in period before, but the penalty fee was too much so I just waited until my contract was up. I'm sure same thing yan sa Fibr.

    1. Yes po. Bayad pa din po. It's okay not to pay or ignore nalang but take note that's it's going to ruin your name sa PLDT. You may reapply under different name po. You can ask your family member to use their name.

    1. Yes po. Your dad won't be able to apply sa PLDT na po. It's kind of blacklist na sia.

  11. Thanks for the tips, this is very helpful. My PLDT Telpad will expire October this year... can't wait to downgrade or upgrade it to fiber with 30mbps speed. I'm getting only 6mbps download speed at the moment and 0.5mbps upload speed.

  12. Thanks for this! Ugh, I still need to visit their branch I'm not in the area with our TelPad subscription - I'm in my home city since the ECQ started, so imagine that- I've been paying for about three months now and I'm not even using the service. I just wish I could downgrade over the phone.

Thanks again! This is exactly what I've been looking for.
