I am a proud debt-free for the longest time! Woohoo!
• While a lot of people buy stuffs left and right, I "use it up,wear it out, make it do or do without"
• While a number of people eat out most of the time, I enjoy a home-cooked meals made by yours truly. Saves me tons plus it improves my cooking skill.
• While most youngsters sleep late maintaining their social media sites, posting statuses, commenting and all, I read books until super-sleepy. Deactivating my Facebook is one of the best decisions I've made. It tamed my " Oh, she has it, why can't I buy one?"
• While most people would drool and would go into debt just to buy the newest gadget, I am contented with my Nokia phone and my iPod.
• While most people dream of a huge house, I dream of a "bahay kubo" in a province with a vegetable garden that I will be tending.
• While most people go to malls for entertainment, nature-walking is my form of entertainment.
You see, there is a good debt and a bad debt. I don't have bad debt and I want to keep it at that. I don't have a good debt either but, I am waiting for the right opportunity before dipping my toes in to that.
Knowing the difference between good and bad debt is important.
Now here is the challenge:
Do you have what it takes to be debt-free?
I currently have a few debts right now and if all goes well, I will be debt free by the end of april. I made drastic changes with how I handle my finances the past few months and I am almost done clearing my debt. This is actually my second attempt on trying to wipe out all my debt and I think this time I will finally achieve my goal. Once I achieve this goal, I will try to achieve a debt free lifestyle. Your post has inspired me to find ways to be debt free.
ReplyDeleteIt's a nice feeling to be debt-free!
DeleteI am in a stage of "pfft, I'd rather not have this or that than go to debt" I'm also in the stage of understanding that most people who have a millionaire lifestyle, aren't rich.
Once you are grateful for little things, you appreciate it more.
Thanks for dropping by! I will check you blog.
Hi ate I'm 21 years old and a 4th year graduating student in october2014,, you are a big inspiration to me, just found out your blog today. Just like you saving and writing down every expenses, etc you do is interesting for me. When I graduate I want to save as much as I can for the future, because all in my head was traveling, eating to new restaurants here and there, but now I know happiness is contentment , and family, I want to save my for my 1st million too! And I am lucky that we have a good family business that I will be helping my parents with and I must say it pays more than being an employee's salary would be-- I came across your blog and inspired me to save, like for reals,
ReplyDeleteHey Alyssa,
DeleteI wish my niece is like you, too. She is first year college now and I am helping her with tuition fee and all. I wish she will realize how saving is important at a very young age. I am really glad to know I inspired you. Good luck on your journey to your first million. :)
Thank you, you are too kind hehe keep on blogging, I'm going to work in canada in the next few years and would definitely use all your tips too.
ReplyDeleteAnd oh, I read you are coming home on September , so happy for ya, hope we could meet and be friends hehe sorry if that might sound like a creeper - thank you for having the time to reply to my comment. Take care , and oh yeah, advance happy Fourth of July over there! Ate! :)
ReplyDeleteThanks! Are you going to live in Canada for good or save as much as you can and go home? I'm glad you have a plan before going abroad. Me, I started saving a year or so after I started working abroad. Sayang ang one year earnings ko. But it's ok, lesson learned,I guess.
DeleteThanks again for dropping by
For for good , I have my cousins jiving in too, our other older cousin with his girlfriend is already there so I feel confident. Def. going to live there. Canada is not that strict when it comes to Filipinos migrating to their country while nowadays US is much more strict with us, my parents are getting old so I want them to experience living outside PH or even retire there along with my cousins who will also get their parents along, ---- hoping for the best when you go back here, expenses here are off the charts I'm in metro manila by the way, 1000pesos is just like 100pesos here now, food, meralco, and water expenses are tough , being an employee is also magastos really magastos, and minimum salary is 11-15k a month here now--so I still got a year or so to plan for my trip- and practice frugality when I graduate, for I have goals into getting a house for my family as my investment or having it rented out too--it's a tough world out there for me in this generation , I don't have Facebook too! :) I prefer email or blogging now :)
ReplyDeleteYou got it all plan out! Good for you! It's good you have relatives and all doon. Me kasi I'm all alone here and the fast-pace life here drives me insane! I want the laid-back life there sa pinas. Tumatanda na. Not planning to live in Manila, though.
DeleteGoodluck in your endeavors. I hear my enthusiasm in you the first time I work abroad but now, things change. I don't like working away from homie anymore. Hopefully when you are finally sa Canada, you won't eventfully feel what I am feeling, the homesickness and all. :(
Well,goodluck! :)
Are you permitted to take your family along? Cebu is like kind of like Manila na din, but more beautiful :) --
ReplyDeleteI'm not going to settle in Cebu. Sa province, where I grew up lang.
DeleteI can but I have to wait for a lot of years before they can come . I don't want to wait na. Besides, before I went abroad, I promised I won't be out of the country my entire life. Save up then home run.
