(Online) Job Hunting: New Graduates VS. The Not So New Ones

Well, I'm talking about job hunting in general.

You all know that I am in the process of looking for a job online coz I'm bored beyond belief and I need something to do. I don't even see myself going out and braving the traffic jam everyday so I think online work soothes me better.

Yep, bought myself a new laptop ( I mentioned it few months ago) coz my first ever laptop died on me, plus I was really set on finding an online job. But it took me at least 4 months convincing myself that I can do it, that I need to pass CVs... that despite my age, I still got it.

Gosh, I can't help but compare it to my younger years, back when I just graduated college. Why was I so brave to pass my CV to any companies back then? I didn't even had a lot of experience back then, but kapalmuks talagang nag pass ng CV kahit kanino but now, I kind of lost it na. I really didn't have the guts na. I kept on doubting myself and my abilities. Few years back, it's like the world is on my hands and I'd like to see it dance but now, the world looks like it's too heavy on my hands . Ai, I can't explain.

Ugh, if you only knew how many times I talked myself to pass the damn CV, how my friends told me na "nakaya mo nga yung America, 'yan pa kaya?" I even went home despite the uncertainty, pag pass ng CV, hindi kaya?!
Kaya pala most people get stuck in one job for life because man, finding a new job is kind of daunting, at least for me.

The whole job hunting thing was overwhelming but I got used to it and kind of like the rush that I was getting out of it. Eventually, I passed my CV, got interviewed, trained, and hey, I GOT A JOB!!!

What job is it? Find out in my next post!!!

Toyota Wigo, come to mama! hahaha! (Well, if you are a long time reader of my blog, you know how finding an online job is equals to buying a car)

  1. Wow! Congratulations! Though I got a bit lost, is it an online job or a job where you actually have an office?

Like you, I have been searching for online jobs (pati data encoding, pinapasok ko na)... pero mejo inaalat and I guess, samahan mo na ng hindi ko pagiging seryoso (ng slight) sa paghahanap ng work.

But hopefully, this is the year that I make it happen.

    1. It's home-based, interviews were done through phone and skype then training was done on skype, too. It's kind of nakakapanibago coz this whole "do everything online" is new to me. Pero hey, 21st century na! Dapat mag move on and mag upgrade na din ako. haha!

    1. I know, right? But my psyche isn't ready for business yet or maybe I am not really a business kind of person. Nag momonitor lang ako sa market ( kunting online selling and buying) Plus, I don't want to complicate my life with business right now coz aanhin ko naman yung madaming pera and mag isa lang ako tapos I can't hang out with my babies if ever . Gusto ko nasa bahay lang ( though I can venture into online business) but right now, I don't want to complicate things. IMO.

    2. Oh I never thought that business is all about greediness but in my case it isn't like that, you're completely normal and I'm not. Hopefully, you get what I mean. I was complimenting you and it wasn't insulting :(

    3. No way, girl! We misunderstood each other. Never found your comment offensive or insulting at all. I'm sorry if my reply sounded like I equate businesses with greediness coz I support businesses esp if it creates tons of jobs. For me lang, as of the mo, I don't like to complicate/stress my life with business ideas ( since I really don't have any business ideas, haha) coz as much as possible, I'd like to hang out with my babies at home and take life a little easier. I am contented with what I have and maybe in the near future, when I feel the itch ( like what I am having now- itching to find an online job) maybe I'd start a business, but for now, dito muna ako sa bahay.

I hope you get what I mean too.

  7. Congrats Maria! I can relate dun sa sinabi mong "finding a new job is kinda daunting". Meron din akong gustong applyan na online job, part time lang. Their office is just a floor away from our office. But until now, I can't muster enough nerve to pass my resume. Parang hindi na ako marunong sumagot sa interview. Dati, pasa lang nang pasa ng resume, kahit hindi ko alam ang trabaho. Haha.
Good luck on your new job! Looking forward to your next post.
